Two parishes:
One perched on a mound Carlucet, whose name is derived from castrum meaning castle and fortified site, followed by the diminutive gear and the other nestled in a valley along a route around a rock mass " the Rock "on which was probably erected a defensive element: Saint-Crepin.
These two parishes, two towns became the Revolution, were combined into one by royal decree of 28 December 1825. Although the administrative center has moved to Poujol, which today characterizes this new town, each of these towns is not more important than the surrounding hamlets.
However, do not omit to state that St. Crispin was, in his time, a larger town, rich in many homes and buildings.
Under the vocables of St. Mary and St. Anne Church Carlucet considered Romano-Byzantine is one of the oldest in the Périgord. There is also a strange cemetery crypts which is accessed via the narthex of the church, whose construction was commissioned in the 17th century by Father Coste, serving the parish, to address the lack of space and anarchy graves in and out of the church.
Historic Monument, this church was restored remarkably short time ago, it houses a very old font and a magnificent altarpiece.
The church of Saint-Crepin whose holders are Saint Crispin and Crispian, but where one party patron Saint Martial considered, but also Roman revised to later periods. Against the church builds a presbytery of the thirteenth, 15th and 17th centuries with mullioned windows and stone arched porch where you can read an inscription with the date 1647. Opposite, a quadrangular fountain 17th century, a stone cross and a laundry later.
However, one of the most striking buildings is the magnificent "Castle Lacypierre."
This small village of Saint-Crepin a surprise walkers who would benefit from the experience of starting Poujol because past the turn of the road that goes down, they discover a counterpoint to the church tower, both towers a small moving castle built between the 15th and 17th centuries on a stump older. It belonged successively to Ferriere, knights, vassals Salignac, then the blessed Lacypierre, family civil and military officers who gave their name before the Malbec and current owners who saved a ruin since 1968.
It is the epitome of the manor sarladaise, oblong building constructed on both sides of a hexagonal tower with stairs and reinforced by a square tower, itself topped by a dovecote, a relic of a time where Ferrière had low and middle justice of the fief of Saint Crispin and paid tribute to the lord of Salignac. The central body is pierced with mullioned windows wood topped dormers triangular pediments and balls typically Louis XIII. This castle is modest for its proportions, its location in a wooded area of oak, hornbeam and oaks and especially its heavy stone roofs and incomparable called slate.
The same slates covered, there is still some time all the houses in this part of Perigord, the smallest hut to mansion. Walkers can find other examples of this material par excellence in the local town which has several mansions, the Poujol, the Roumevies to Eyrissou to Carlucet and some other villages located on its territory. But beware, it is a endangered material, not because of its rarity but because of its price implementation: we must save the heritage slate! Note that the lovely home of the family of mullein, located at Poujol, lost his coverage in favor of roofing slate but has retained its beautiful proportions and skylights 18th century. It now houses the municipal school.
Castle Lacypierre, meanwhile, opens to visitors from Easter to All Saints.
