Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, the Château de Lagrange-Montalivet now benefits from a classification as a Historic Monument. Private property located in the town of Saint-Bouize, in the Cher department, it consists of a central main building with an imperial roof flanked by two pavilions. Its brick and stone facades will seduce visitors.
Following on from a first medieval building, the Château de Lagrange-Montalivet was again destroyed in the 16th century by the army of the Duke of Deux-Ponts. It is still possible today to admire a semi-circular porch giving access to an entrance door with carved decoration or a horseshoe staircase adorned with decorative vases on the park side.
Near the main courtyard, there remains a barnyard with a shed, barn, hayloft, cistern or watering hole. Some of these constructions reveal very beautiful facings of carved wood and an open-work decoration.
The park and gardens, redesigned in the 19th century, have been included in the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments.
