Village of the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Natural Park, Saint-Basile is located in the heart of small wooded mountains, around fifty kilometers from Privas, and not far from Belsentes, Saint-Prix or Nozières.

Passing through Saint-Basile, don't forget to visit the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church in Cluac, the Protestant of Lapras.
A former 13th century fortress, Maisonseule castle still proudly dominates the Doux valley. Listed as a Historic Monument for its roof and facades, it served as a garrison until the 16th century before becoming a residence. Reworked in the 17th century, the site, surrounded by dry moats, consists of the Saint-Louis keep with a barrel-vaulted cellar and watchtower. The north wing and the dovecote were added in the 14th century, while the mullioned windows, the oratory and the beams decorated with rosettes and fleur-de-lys date from the 16th century.
