Saint-Astier is located in the heart of Perigord, close to the motorway exit (A89) and the city of Perigueux.
This city is named after the hermit Asterius who lived in the hills above the city.
Its fortified church wiped more havoc, it was rebuilt in the 12th century and will see several changes over the centuries.
Saint-Astier is known for the production of lime (world famous) that allows the restoration of many listed buildings and also by the Training Centre of the Gendarmerie Forces.
