Saint-Arnoult

With its centuries-old history, the village of Saint-Arnoult offers visitors many surprises and walks locations.

Whether or not horse racing lover, discover the Clairefontaine racecourse. This is one of the most flowery of France and its buildings with typical Norman architecture worth visiting. It attends, in particular the summer to interesting trotting races.

The construction of the village chapel dates back to the 1150s! It is classified a historical monument since 1970. It is the first chapel of the Order of Cluny in Normandy.

Castle Lassay, also sometimes called the White Castle of Canisy, is now in ruins. Legend has it that it was built in the seventeenth century in just 35 days by the lord of Saint-Arnoult for Marianne, that he loved passionately but who will die shortly after...

When you go see the ruins of the castle, enjoy your ascent on Mount Canisy to enjoy the extraordinary views over the bay of Deauville. A spectacular and unique vision.

Fishing enthusiasts will find on the banks of the "dead river" of Saint-Arnoult the place to indulge their passion. Originally, it is the Touques, a river whose course has been modified to allow the passage of the railway line linking Paris to Deauville. Today it is a haven of tranquility and nature!

Saint-Arnoult is also renowned for its beautiful 18 hole golf course overlooking Deauville.

Exhibitions of paintings, photographs are held throughout the year in the multipurpose room.

Real highlight of the city, attend the trotting races at the Clairefontaine racecourse during the summers. An output that will please the whole family, especially since the place has a nursery and numerous activities are planned locally.

The proximity of the larger resorts such as Deauville and Honfleur are also the guarantee of varied cultural events. So at Deauville in March is that of the Asian Film Festival, the September being synonymous with the American film festival! Many ideas of various outputs so!

• The Normandy heritage festival "Pierres en Lumières" is an event, supported by the Fondation du Patrimoine and the Department of Calvados, which aims to open places of our heritage to the public. - On this occasion, the Committee of Saint-Arnoult, in collaboration with the association "Les Amis du Prieuré de Saint Arnoul sur Touque", has the project to illuminate the chapel of Saint-Arnoult with LED candles and to give the public the opportunity to discover the interior of the chapel and the crypt.

• The best amateur riders in Normandy meet in Deauville on the Grand Régional circuit, organized by the Comité Régional d ? Equitation en Normandie. This federal circuit is dedicated to amateur riders in categories 1 (1m15), 2 (1m05) and Elite (1m25). Modelled on the Grand National, it aims to showcase the "Grand Prix Amateurs" in Normandy and enable amateurs to gain experience before entering the professional circuit. It consists of nine stages, organized between April and September, each of which earns points towards qualification for the grand final.

In Deauville brings together some of the biggest names in French and foreign dressage, as well as the discipline ? S hopefuls, ready to shine in 8 levels of competition : from amateur to international 3*, via 2*, U25, Ponies, Young Riders, Juniors and Young Horses. With some fifteen nations taking part, the public will no doubt once again be treated to compulsory and free-form movements to music of the highest standard. - More information to come.
