Small town in Calvados, Saint-Arnoult is located in Normandy area on the flowered coast, not far from the seaside resort known worldwide what Deauville.

Do not confuse this with its namesake town located in the Yvelines.

Saint-Arnoult known since about the time of the Middle Ages. History says in fact that this town had two miraculous springs. One of them, dedicated to Arnulf was shaped bathtub. While infant mortality was very high at the time, the family traveled many kilometers to bathe in that source their children weak constitution, hoping to restore their vigor and health. The second source, dedicated to St. Clair, was in turn deemed to treat sore eyes. Today, these sources still flow in the town and even if their water is not potable, tourists do not hesitate to go there to enjoy their supposed virtues.

Things to see and do

With its centuries-old history, the village of Saint-Arnoult offers visitors many surprises and walks locations.

Whether or not horse racing lover, discover the Clairefontaine racecourse. This is one of the most flowery of France and its buildings with typical Norman architecture worth visiting. It attends, in particular the summer to interesting trotting races.

The construction of the village chapel dates back to the 1150s! It is classified a historical monument since 1970. It is the first chapel of the Order of Cluny in Normandy.

Castle Lassay, also sometimes called the White Castle of Canisy, is now in ruins. Legend has it that it was built in the seventeenth century in just 35 days by the lord of Saint-Arnoult for Marianne, that he loved passionately but who will die shortly after...

When you go see the ruins of the castle, enjoy your ascent on Mount Canisy to enjoy the extraordinary views over the bay of Deauville. A spectacular and unique vision.

Fishing enthusiasts will find on the banks of the "dead river" of Saint-Arnoult the place to indulge their passion. Originally, it is the Touques, a river whose course has been modified to allow the passage of the railway line linking Paris to Deauville. Today it is a haven of tranquility and nature!

Saint-Arnoult is also renowned for its beautiful 18 hole golf course overlooking Deauville.

Events and festivities

Exhibitions of paintings, photographs are held throughout the year in the multipurpose room.

Real highlight of the city, attend the trotting races at the Clairefontaine racecourse during the summers. An output that will please the whole family, especially since the place has a nursery and numerous activities are planned locally.

The proximity of the larger resorts such as Deauville and Honfleur are also the guarantee of varied cultural events. So at Deauville in March is that of the Asian Film Festival, the September being synonymous with the American film festival! Many ideas of various outputs so!
