Village of Morbihan, about twenty kilometers from the very touristic city of Vannes, Saint-Armel takes place in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Gulf of Morbihan. Member of the Rennes Métropole urban community, it is located not far from Surzur, Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys or Saint-Avé.
The Breton town takes its name from Armel, a 5th century Irishman who migrated to mainland Brittany to found a monastery before ending his life in great holiness. Officially created in the middle of the 19th century, Saint-Armel was previously integrated into the municipality of Sarzeau.
Today, it is mainly for its natural heritage, made up in particular of marshes, that the village of Saint-Armel attracts visitors and lovers of Brittany.
