Beaumefort Castle is located in the town of Saint-Alban-Auriolles, in the Ardèche department, 15 km west of Vallon-Pont d'Arc.
The current residential building was erected in the 18th century near a 13th century square keep and fortified elements which were to watch over the valley and the village below. The buildings are organized around a central courtyard which allows communication between them. The courtyard opens onto a cave while the buildings are leaned, on the west side, to a limestone hill which was long used as a quarry.
We note that the high dungeon of several levels has retained its elements of military architecture. In the modern parts of the castle, rare marouflaged canvases have been preserved in a living room.
The entire site, which also includes an orangery, is now listed in the Inventory.
The property is private but the elegant silhouette of the Château de Beaumefort can mark a discovery of the village. Information on +33 4 28 91 24 10.
