Located on the territory of Sabres, in the Landes, the Ecomuseum of the Great Marquèze Lande opened its doors to the public in 1970. Managed by the Regional Natural Park of Landes de Gascogne, it is one of the first ecomuseums created in La France.
The site covers more than twenty-five hectares, and presents a beautiful testimony of the agricultural system and daily life in Upper Lande in the nineteenth century. It is composed of very beautiful reconstructions of authentic houses of masters, metairies, sheepfolds, ovens and a mill. All buildings are organized around an airial rich in ancient oaks. A small train has been arranged to pleasantly discover the field.
A pavilion opened in the late 2000s reveals important collections of Landes objects, a permanent exhibition on the history of the Landes, as well as a temporary exhibition changing each year. Workshops are regularly offered to discover the trades of the past.
