Trappist abbey from the second half of the 19th century founded by monks from the Abbey of Sept-Fons, the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Chambarand takes place in the heart of Roybon, in Isère. Closed at the beginning of the 20th century when the congregations were abolished, it has been run since the 1930s by Bernardine nuns.
Installed in the national forest of Chambarand which gave it its name, Notre-Dame Abbey is still today a place of prayer, work and fraternity once known for its beer and cheese. The sisters now offer religious handicrafts in their shop.
