Small hilltop village of Herault, on the edge of the department of Aude, Quarante takes place north of the Canal du Midi, about twenty kilometers from Beziers. It is located near Narbonne, a hundred kilometers from Montpellier.
Installed on an old oppidum, the town had a significant occupation in the Gallo-Roman era, as evidenced by the remains found on the spot. It has had a relatively peaceful history over the centuries, mainly focused on wine production, which is still relevant today. Touristy, the city seduces by its proximity to some of the most beautiful cities of the region, but also by its natural and preserved environment.
Quarante has a rich architectural and historical heritage that attracts many visitors every year.
