Tourism, holidays & weekends guide in the Drôme

Small village in the Drôme Provençale, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Puy-Saint-Martin takes place about fifty kilometers from Valence. It is located not far from Montélimar, Dieulefit and Crest.

Installed at the crossroads of the Manas and Montélimar roads, the town has developed since Antiquity, as evidenced by the tools, mosaics and other shards found on site. Property of the barony of Garde-Adhémar in the Middle Ages, Puy-Saint-Martin has developed over the centuries around its castle. From this past, this city in the south of France has preserved several vestiges to discover during a stroll.

Things to see and do

Located on the old feudal motte, the old village of Puy-Saint-Martin is still visible, revealing in particular the ruins of the medieval castle and houses. The Perched Village pedestrian circuit allows you to discover all these vestiges and to take the old streets for a few strolls.

Passing visitors can also admire the remains of a Paleo-Christian chapel before reaching the town's new castle by taking the narrow streets with vaults. Sixteenth century manor, the latter takes place below the village and underwent transformations in the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries before welcoming in the 1950s the town hall and the town hall. An adjoining park of 3000 m² allows you to enjoy sunny days.

A neo-Romanesque church from the 19th century completes the architectural offer of this charming city.
