New common Calvados, Normandy region, Thue et Mue takes place about fifteen kilometers from Caen, its Memorial and its famous ducal castle. She was born on January 1, 2017 the meeting of towns to Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse, Brouay, Cheux, Mensil-Patry, Putot-en-Bessin and Sainte-Croix-Grand-Tonne.
Mainly agricultural for centuries, the territory of Thue et Mue had a rich history, taking little by little the face it has today. Populated since Gallo-Roman times, as evidenced by some remains found there, he distinguished himself during World War II and its painful clashes and other bombings.
Today, the new city continues to attract visitors with its authentic charm and its proximity to some of the most beautiful sights of Normandy.
Listed historical monument, St. Germain de Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse church dates from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. In particular, reveals a beautiful archivolt on its western portal. He also registered for the dining room, lounges, a fireplace in the den, and to trim most of its rooms, the Château de la Motte also deserves a stop. Rebuilt in the eighteenth century, the latter particularly welcomed Charles VII, Francis I, Henry II and Henry IV. Walking through the city, do not admire the sundials or miss the monument in honor of the Canadian soldiers who liberated the territory in 1944.
Brouay is a very pretty Norman village which in particular admire the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption of the thirteenth century, the century castle, or the lovely old wash the Ormelaie. It also unveils a Commonwealth War Cemetery overlooking the communal cemetery and reflects the sacrifice of Allied soldiers during the Second World War.
Listed building, St Vigor Church Cheux date twelfth and thirteenth centuries and has seen changes in the nineteenth, and a restoration after World War II. It is mainly Romanesque and present including two beautiful keystones depicting St. Vigor and the miraculous legend salting and St. Nicolas.
Be sure to walk around Mesnil-Patry to see his monument erected in memory of the soldiers of the Queen's Own Riffle and his beautiful church of Saint-Julien.
Putot-en-Bessin is known for its church of Our Lady of the Nativity, a building of the twelfth, thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and listed historic monument. The town also has a cross of the seventeenth century in the cemetery included in the inventory, as well as the castle of Putot eighteenth century.
Visit Sainte-Croix-Grand-Tonne is the opportunity to discover some ancient and prehistoric remains, as well as the beautiful church of the eighteenth century. From Sulpician style it once depended on the Abbey Sainte-Marie-de-Long. Be sure not to get seduced by the mansion of the seventeenth century partly listed historic monument, or the beautiful stone houses Creully built in the eighteenth century. Very nice, Castle Grand Tonne is the theater each year, a large knightly tournament.
Several marked hiking trails allow us to appreciate the charms of Thue et Mue.
The Bretteville market is held every Saturday morning on the place of Canadians. Frequently Asked attics with walking is offered each April in Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse. Another Frequently Asked attics is organized in September. The Christmas market is held every year in December.
A knights' tournament is proposed in early May and mid-July each year at Castle Grand Tonne.
A country festival with many events held on the first September weekend.
Festival Ma Parole ! : Une Balade au Sahara par Halima Hamdane

- The libraries of Thue et Mue are taking part in the 16th edition of the Festival Ma Parole ! A storytelling arts festival organized by the Bibliothèque du Calvados. We are fortunate to be hosting the opening show of the Festival, "Une balade au Sahara" by storyteller Halima Hamdane. - Marhaba, welcome to the land of dunes, palm trees and camels. Halima invites you to join the kafila, the caravan that will criss-cross the desert to discover its tales and legends. We'll be talking about the nourishing tree, the prince of the desert with its juicy, sweet fruit, the mischievous wind that moves the dunes, the genies who inhabit the palm groves, the importance of water, the greed of men. And other treasures of Saharan oral tradition.

- The Thue et Mue libraries invite you to discover the commune's natural heritage on a botanical walk through the Sainte-Croix-Grand-Tonne wetlands. - Accompanied by Patrick Martin, botanist and musician, participants will discover the local flora and its virtues. - A botanical walk is an opportunity to discover the plant heritage that surrounds you. A whole procession of wild plants at your fingertips, to put under your nose and sometimes even under your teeth ! - Put all your senses to work and get to know purple loosestrife and meadowsweet, plants specific to wetlands. - You'll discover the medicinal and culinary virtues of these plants, which can be used to treat everyday ailments and/or add new flavours to salads, quiches and desserts.

- Come and celebrate the liberation of the village of Bretteville l ? Orgueilleuse for one evening, in a 40s atmosphere recreated for the occasion. The "Mam ? Zelle Bee and the Boys" orchestra will play French and English songs from the era, and you'll be carried away by the euphoria of the moment. Catering and refreshments on site. Dress 1940s strongly advised. - Reservations required.
La Parade de la Libération

- In the main street of Bretteville l ? Orgueilleuse, a former section of the Nationale 13, a key crossroads for the Allies as they advanced through the Normandy countryside, period civilian and military vehicles, bagpipes and percussion instruments, and re-enactments in period costume will be paraded to commemorate the liberation of the village by Canadian troops of the Regina Rifle Regiment. - Current members of the Regina Rifle Regiment will be in the spotlight, marching at the head of the procession to the cheers of the crowds who turn out in force every year. - Once parked around the Victor Lorier Gymnase, visitors will be able to admire the vehicles up close, and enjoy a refreshment bar set up on site.
