Things to see and do

Housed in a former private mansion from the end of the 17th century, the Chintreuil Museum has been awarded the Musee de France. Dedicated to the work of the landscape painter of the same name, he reveals several of his works, as well as paintings of other great artists of the Ain like Firmin-Girard or Louis Jourdan. Exceptional exhibitions are also regularly organized. The museum also has a cabinet of curiosities and documents related to ecology and ethnology.

Ideal for family walks or simple decompression, the flooded meadow of the Saône is an important natural monument. Dozens of species of plants and birds are discovered in this protected natural site.

Other natural sites can be enjoyed in Pont-de-Vaux, like the site of Charmes, sand dunes of wind origin, or the island of La Motte with its exceptional fauna and flora. Signposted hiking trails are accessible all over and around the town, especially in the peaty moorland of the Onions. For a walk or cycling, the Blue Way allows to walk along the canal on the old towpaths.

Pont-de-Vaux also has a fishing pond, while the house of water and nature offers you two circuits of 5 and 9 kilometers with a geolocated visioguide. The latter, open to all, has tactile terminals and a 3D film to discover the mysteries of the surrounding nature.

True aquatic relaxation place, L'Archipel offers a swimming pool, slides, water fungi and splashpad with different games.

Classified as Historic Monuments, the Racle house was designed by the architect, faience and engineer, Leonard Racle.

Events and festivities

The market of Pont-de-Vaux is held every Wednesday morning.

Every year, the Glorious of Bresse, agricultural competition, goes through Pont-de-Vaux to judge poultry Bresse.

At the beginning of July, the festival Festivrac offers different concerts.

Every year at the end of August, Pont-de-Vaux hosts the Twelve Hours of Pont-de-Vaux, an international quad competition.

A Christmas market is offered at the end of the year.
