Things to see and do

Full of charm, the Saint-Etienne church is one of the main architectural attractions of the municipality of Pleugueneuc. Built in schist and granite, it has a 15th century nave and west facade, as well as a mid-19th century transept. Inside, be sure to admire the beautiful altar, as well as the statues from the Louis XV period.

While strolling in the town, you will also be able to discover the various castles built on the spot, like those of the Motte Beaumanoir of the 15th century, of the Gage of the 19th and of the Bourbansais. Built at the end of the 16th century on ancient Gallo-Roman remains, the latter is today classified as a Historic Monument for its buildings and its magnificent French garden. Remodeled in the 18th century, it notably unveils a large room adorned with Louis XIII style woodwork, Aubusson tapestries or a very beautiful blue living room created by Mancel. A Baroque wing was added in the 17th century, copying the style of the orangery of the Hôtel de Sully in Paris. Next to the castle, you can discover the 17th century chapel restored in the first half of the 20th century. Labeled Remarkable Garden, the French gardens reveal a beautiful statuary established at the time of Louis XV. The current owners have opened a place to save animal species, protecting wild animals, monkeys or deer in the zoological park. Falconry and dog pack shows are also offered on site.
