The Fossés manor is located in the commune of Plélan-le-Petit, in the Côtes-d'Armor department, 15 km southwest of Dinan.
At the exit of the town, to the northwest, the building dates from the 16th century and was one of the strongholds of a stronghold under Montafilant.
Built on a rectangular plan in the form of a mansion-porch, it is actually pierced by a carriage entrance and a pedestrian entrance.
Remarkably preserved, the manor has retained trefoiled twin bays on the façade as well as archers. Elements that give it a certain character.
With a defensive vocation, the manor was also intended to be a comfortable residence for the time and had a kitchen, hall and bedroom on the ground floor. Upstairs was a large room with a remarkable framework.
A description from the 16th century also indicates that there was a chapel in the courtyard and surrounding dwellings (so that the peasants on the estate would benefit from its protection).
Over the centuries, a number of owners are mentioned, such as the Le Borgne (14th century), the de la Bouexière, the des Nos (17th century) and the de Kergorlay.
Protected as a historic monument, this beautiful example of a porch manor (we sometimes also speak of a dungeon manor) in a rural environment is still private. It can be observed during a walk on the RD19 or visited in season, from April to September, on Saturdays and Sundays. Free access.
