The medieval garden of Plazac, in Dordogne, 25 km north-west of Sarlat-la-Canéda, originates from an initiative of a couple of individuals in 2003.

An association took over in 2009.

The garden is located at the foot of the ramparts of the castle of the Bishops, which dates from the 12th century, and adjoins the church of this small town full of character. The space has 16 squares with signage, representing a hundred plants distributed according to their vocation or use: we thus discover medicinal, tinctorial (to dye textiles), aromatic or food plants, even market gardening. Flowers are also present intended, according to tradition, to flower the altars.

The whole was imagined as reflecting the gardens of the monasteries of yesteryear. Benches and fountains add to the charm of the place. The medieval garden of Plazac has won several awards over the years. Free access all year round. Information on +33 5 53 50 71 22.
