Private Mansion Libéral Bruant

Monument in Paris

Classic-style mansion located at 1 rue de la Perle in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, the hotel Libéral Bruant is located in the heart of the famous Marais district. Built at the end of the 17th century, it is now classified as an historic monument.

Originally owned by architect Bruant, the building reveals in particular on its front courtyard curved windows then in fashion. The pediment is adorned with cherubs and cornucopias. Seat of the first National School of bridges and roads between 1771 and 1778, the building deteriorates strongly during the nineteenth century. A museum of the lock is then installed there between 1976 and 2003. This one was replaced by a center of contemporary art.
