Private Mansion Bataille de Francès

Monument in Paris

The hotel Bataille de Francès (a time called Hotel d'Affry) is located at 1 place Vendome, in the 1st arrondissement of the capital.

It was built in the early eighteenth century on behalf of Pierre Perrin, then secretary of King Louis XV, according to the plans of the architect Armand Claude Mollet, to whom we also owe the Palais de l'Elysee.

It belongs from 1736 to Jean de Bataille, lord of Francès, who was Receiver of Finances.

In 1788, the building shelters some time the administration of the domains.

More unexpectedly, in 1842 and 1843, the mansion became the embassy of the ephemeral republic of Texas. An inscription to the right of the entrance of the building reminds him.

Classified as a historical monument in 1930 for its facades and roofs, this noble building is since 1858 a luxury hotel that bears the name of Hôtel de Vendôme.

With the exception of guests of the property, the property can not be visited. This fine example of eighteenth-century architecture can, however, be included in the program of a free walk or guided tour of this famous district of Paris. Information on +33 1 49 52 42 63.
