The Museum of the History of Medicine is located within the Paris-Descartes University, in the premises of the former Faculty of Medicine, logically located in the 6th arrondissement of the city, in the Medical School.
His collections are presented in a room built in 1905. They originate from the collections collected by Professor Lafaye in the eighteenth century and have been enriched over the centuries.
It reveals surgical kits, medical instruments, wax pieces imitating pathologies or organs, paintings and lithographs depicting anatomy and its "mysteries". Part of the instruments and works were intended to train students. Another was actually used by surgeons of past centuries.
The collections are considered to be among the most important in Europe. Some elements come from the collections of the Hôtel-Dieu or the Maisons-Alfort veterinary school.
