Annex of the National Library of France, the library of Arsenal takes place at 1 rue de Sully, in the 4th arrondissement of Paris. It is located in the former Arsenal Paris founded by Francis I in the sixteenth century and rebuilt by Sully before being enlarged by Germain Boffrand in the eighteenth century.
Classified as an historic monument, the building now houses more than a million documents, 15,000 manuscripts, 100,000 prints and 3,000 maps and plans. The fonds focuses mainly on French literature from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, bibliophilia, binding or the history of the book.
