Charming little village in the Alpilles, Paradou takes place between Les Baux-de-Provence and Maussane-les-Alpilles. Located in the heart of the Alpilles Natural Park, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, it is located about twenty kilometers from Arles and its arenas and about thirty kilometers from Avignon and its famous theater festival.
Populated since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the remains found on site during archaeological excavation campaigns, the territory of Paradou quickly became populated by Ligurians and Celts before benefiting from significant development under Gallo-Roman influence.. The drying up of the marshes in the course of the Middle Ages also allowed the Provençal village to find new growth and to get involved, in particular, in the breeding of silkworms.
Today turned towards tourism, the municipality of Paradou is also famous for its wine production (Coteaux-des-baux-en-Provence AOC and wine from the Alpilles countries) and olive oil (olive oil from the valley des Baux-de-Provence AOC).
