The Grand-Pontébar manor is located in the town of Paimpol, in the Côtes-d'Armor department.
It is precisely located northwest of the city, near the Trieux estuary.
If traces of an earlier domain are mentioned (ruins of an entrance gate and annexes, as well as a now mutilated Calvary), the current building dates from 1766 and was built on behalf of of a certain Gilles Jacob. The built elements form a courtyard enclosed by the "south" facade of the dwelling and more recent buildings.
The dwelling was built in schist and granite rubble. The spans are decorated with worked skylights, and we notice that the lintels of the bays are for some equipped with sculpted elements.
A secondary body is attached.
In the courtyard, a well was built at the beginning of the 19th century.
Three levels high, including an attic floor, the manor is listed in the Inventory. The private property is well maintained, but it is not open to the public. It is possible to admire its noble neo-classical silhouette but also evoking regional architectural traditions during a walk in this bucolic countryside, not far from the route of the GR34 (the coastal path). This follows the Trieux estuary on the right bank before joining its left bank via the Pont Saint-Christophe.
