Things to see and do

Dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, the Church of Our Lady of Orbec was completely rebuilt after the Hundred Years War. Dominated by an English-style defensive tower with angled buttresses, it also reveals a steeple over forty meters high. Inside, visitors are pleased to discover an organ case, 16th century stained glass windows, as well as a very beautiful statuette representing Christ. The building is now the subject of an inscription in the Historic Monuments.

After admiring the town's half-timbered houses, you can explore the manor listed as a Historic Monument and now converted into a museum. This 16th century building with its half-timbered walls and facades with sculpted figures now presents collections dedicated to popular arts and traditions as well as to local history.

While strolling through the small Norman town, let yourself be seduced by the former Augustinian convent listed as a Historic Monument and transformed into a cultural center, the former hospice and its 15th century chapel listed as Historic Monuments, or even the Croisy hotel. Built in the 15th century, this historic monument unveils a magnificent garden which inspired the famous French composer, Claude Debussy, his Garden in the Rain.

There are also several marked hiking trails around the city to practice on foot, by bike or on horseback.
