Pretty village of Indre, in the Center region, the Loire Valley, Nohant-Vic takes place about thirty kilometers of Chateauroux, in the natural region of South Boischaut. One that combines the ancient villages of Nohant and Vic-sur-Saint-Chartier is located near Issoudun, Montgivray and Lourouer-Saint-Laurent.

Originally Gallo-Roman territory Nohant-Vic developed in the Middle Ages, taking little by little the true face and charming that he is today. Formed in the early nineteenth century, continues the current joint to attract visitors with its architectural heritage and its cultural history. The village is particularly known for hosting many years George Sand, who wrote many of his works in the former home of his grandmother.

Things to see and do

Built in the eleventh century, today the Saint Martin church has a ranking Historical Monument. It is particularly famous for its wealth of frescoes restored twelfth between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It is possible to see life-size reproductions of the City of Architecture and Heritage in Paris, and the Museum Otsuka, Japan.

Be sure not to admire the Sainte-Anne, also built between the eleventh and the twelfth century. Classified historic monument, it impresses with its impressive paintings, starting with The Education of the Virgin made by Eugène Delacroix during a stay with her friend George Sand.

But the main attraction of Nohant-Vic remains the domain of George Sand, a manor which originally belonged to his grandmother, Madame Dupin de Francueil. The author has written the majority of his works and has hosted the biggest names in French culture like Eugène Delacroix, Chopin, Flaubert and Dumas Fils. Labeled houses Illustrious, the site is accessible to the public and presents objects and furniture that belonged to George Sand. It is also possible to browse the six hectares of the park, very welcoming with a French garden, a pond, a rose garden and a vegetable garden.

Events and festivities

A garage sale and a craftsmen market is held in May.

From early June to late July, the town hosts the Nohan Chopin Festival, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals and romantic. The opportunity to attend traditional concerts or concerts, readings around this composer so dear to the heart of George Sand.

Concerts are held in June on the occasion of Music Day.

In late July, FestOvillage place with concerts, dances and many free events.

A Christmas market with entertainment is offered in December.
