Housed in the former Episcopal palace of the seventeenth century listed historical monument, the Old Nîmes museum tells visitors the history of the city from the late Middle Ages to the present, including through collections of everyday objects or bourgeois interiors.
Created in 1920 by Henry Bauquier, a native scholar Nîmes, including the museum presents exhibitions recreating the world of industrial eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It is also possible to admire the funds of the School of Manufacturing Nîmes, typical furniture or Nimes Cevennes, regional pottery or a room devoted to the history of jeans.
Temporary thematic exhibitions are also organized regularly.
