Located at an altitude of 1583 meters, at Névache, in the Hautes-Alpes, the Saint-Hippolyte chapel was built in the 4th century. Main parish of Névache until the 15th century, the old thatched chapel was enlarged in the 11th century, seeing itself then covered with a vault and decorated with a sacristy.
The current building dates from the 17th century and benefited from a major restoration at the end of the 2000s, occasionally revealing pieces of tuff and charcoal columns, as well as two frescoes representing Saint Anthony and Saint Christopher.
Rarely open to the public, the Saint-Hippolyte chapel can however be admired from the outside during a stroll in the surroundings.
