The house is located at the Seneschal Najac in Aveyron, 22 km southwest of Villefranche-de-Rouergue.
Registered under the Historic Monuments since 1979, the building housed the holder of the Seneschal of Najac (judicial district), village dominated by an imposing fortress built in the thirteenth century overlooking a loop formed by the course of Aveyron.
The house dates from the fourteenth century and was rebuilt in the sixteenth. Forming a U, it encloses a courtyard and is flanked by an imposing tower that houses a staircase. This is the oldest part of the building. From the tower, we reach three superimposed rooms, appointed at the same time, the other wings of the house equipped with galleries being more recent.
The building includes no common walls, which proves its importance, dominating the rest of the town and access to the castle. The tower, therefore, also had a supervisory function.
One enters the house through a wooden gangway.
The building is still privately owned and now houses guest rooms overlooking the gardens.
Failing to visit the home of the Seneschal, we admire his noble character during a walk in this picturesque city has retained its medieval charm.
