Moulins-la-Marche is a village in the Orne, in the Normandy region, 17 km north of Mortagne-au-Perche.
Presenting a landscape of grove, the history of the village is linked to its geographical position, on the border between the duchy of Normandy and the county of Perche.
A mound castrale defensive vocation is thus arranged since the eleventh century, then a real castle is built which becomes a strategic point during the Hundred Years War.
If the castle is destroyed in the fifteenth century, Moulins-la-Marche which, as the name suggests, is famous for its milling activity, remains a viscount until the Revolution.
During the second half of the twentieth century, the village took advantage of the installation in a neighboring town of the actor Jean Gabin who created a racecourse at Moulins-la-Marche.

It remains from the old feudal mound only a few elements on the natural site on which it was built, overlooking the heart of the village. Long abandoned, the redeveloped space is the first heritage asset of the town.

On the historical level, during a walk, we will gather at the place called Clos Mottet in front of the stele commemorating the sacrifice of resistance fighters surprised by German soldiers during the Liberation, in August 1944.
