Chapel Notre-Dame-de-Vie

Monument in Mougins

Located at Mougins, in the Alpes-Maritimes, the chapel Notre-Dame-de-Vie dates back to the 16th century. Listed as a Historical Monument, it has retained its original charming Romanesque style. Partly rebuilt in the middle of the 17th century, it reveals larger proportions.

Formerly a respite sanctuary, the stillborn children were brought there, the Notre-Dame-de-Vie chapel still unveils today a small square bell tower of the eleventh century, a bust of Saint-Innocence of the eighteenth century, or a enclosures with cross of the fifteenth century.

Today partly restored, it welcomes in its garden built in the early 1930s a monumental tomb dedicated to the Guinness family. The site itself inspired Winston Churchill, who portrayed him in one of his paintings.
