Things to see and do

Attractions to discover no shortage in the village of Montsalvy, either cultural or natural point of view.

The abbey has vestiges of what was one of the most important abbeys of the region. You can still find the Holy Gausbert cloister, a chapter house with a cantonal worship of art treasure, or the monks' refectory. The latter houses a fine pointed arch with some sculptures and beautiful columns. Also note this from the chapel of Recluse dedicated to Mary Magdalene, not far.

mansion, Castle Montsalvy this still a beautiful tower built in the eighteenth century. If it now houses a nursing home, it can still be admired from the outside, including the traces of ancient walls.

The church has a beautiful Montsalvy bedside Romanesque style dating from the tenth century.

Walking through the village, visitors will also enjoy the house of Tisserand, a fountain of the nineteenth century, or a beautiful timber-framed house of medieval times. Not far away, the watchtower is a house with turret.

In the summer, the village offers the Catine, a reconstructed interior Auvergne old with guided tours.

Events and festivities

Montsalvy The market is held every Thursday morning and Saturday evening in the village hall.

The last Saturday of July, the festival offers Montsalvy baskets with basketry workshops, a market, tastings and animations.

Round of Chestnut Grove is organized every year at the beginning of November. The event program, a foot race in relays, as well as hiking and a trip to the ATV.
