The winter sports resort of Montriond, in Haute-Savoie, near Avoriaz, is located in the heart of the Chablais massif.
It presents all the charms of a resort-village by being also integrated into the cross-border area of Portes du Soleil which brings together 12 resorts in France and Switzerland (such as Morzine or Les Gets, in particular), linked together either by shuttles, or by common lifts. This represents in total a potential of 307 slopes and 600 km of skiing!
Regarding Montriond, its own area ranges from 1380 to 2350 m altitude and has in terms of alpine skiing 75.5 km of descent divided into 49 tracks (4 green, 25 blue, 14 red and 6 quarter notes). Among them is L'Abricotine, the longest of the Portes du Soleil, with 8 km of slides from the ridges marking the border with Switzerland to the foot of the Ardent cable car. 14 ski lifts, 18 chair lifts, 2 cable cars and 1 lift accessible to pedestrians serve this complex.
In addition, the resort includes 37 km of skating tracks (Nordic skiing), and offers possibilities for practicing ski joering (with horse), sledging or yooner descent (machine between ski and toboggan), speed riding (ski with mini-veil) and even diving under the ice covering the lake of Montriond, below the village, also pleasant as a goal for a walk.
