Located in the Charente-Maritime region of New Aquitaine, the town of Montlieu-la-Garde takes place at the crossroads of the departments of the Dordogne, Gironde and Charente. It is located in wooded Saintonge, near Pouillac and Polignac.
The town was born in 1965 from the merger of the old villages of Montlieu and La Garde. Land of conflict between the French and the English during the Hundred Years War, it was the scene of a formidable siege at the end of the fourteenth century.
Appreciated by tourists for its authentic nature, as well as for its architectural heritage, the small town of Montlieu-la-Garde also seduces for its proximity to some of the most beautiful sites in the region and very touristy departments.
