Monthermé is a true natural setting where bloom breathtaking landscapes and a fauna and flora of the most interesting.

Due to its ideal geographical location, the city of Monthermé enjoys incredible views known throughout the country. On the loop of the Meuse, it is possible to admire the town from different angles in many places, such as rock and 7:00 Longue Roche, Roche Roma, the Roche aux 7 villages, or the Cross St. Anne.

Monthermé is not only a natural paradise is also the scene of one of the most impressive architectural heritage. Thus the Saint-Léger church, whose oldest parts date from the late twelfth century, as the nave, or the north transept can admire wonders. Inside, one can see such a baptismal font of the thirteenth century marble altar, or even the sixteenth century frescoes. Partially destroyed in mid-fifteenth century, the church has undergone many changes, such as a fortification during the religious wars. The Saint-Léger church was classified as an historic monument in 1959.

Founded in 1128, the Abbey of Laval God is one of the monuments to admire Monthermé. Located at the mouth of Semoy, at the confluence of the Meuse and Semoy, it allows to enjoy a beautiful organ case and woodwork of the eighteenth century. The church, the floor of the gardens and the ruins of the canonical house were classified historical monument.

Note also the church of Saint-Antoine des Hauts stubborn, a place of worship built in the eighteenth century and dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua.

In the city, one can admire, in particular, the facade of the former workers' cooperative from 1910, or a beautiful wind vane installed at the beach of the large fireplace of the old brewery.

Events and festivities

City Monthermé no shortage of cultural activities that sustain the streets of the center throughout the year.

A market takes place all year Monthermé on Monday from 15h to 18h. In July, a night market is also proposed, with different artisans of the region.

Place the baraquines peaks in the month of May This sporting event is a Monthermé Running 17 kilometers occurring mainly on the trails of the French Ardennes massif.

Monthermé organizes every June, the festival of Hiking. On this occasion, various activities are offered throughout the day, as guided hikes, guided walks of, carriage rides or a treasure hunt for youngsters.

In July, time for coffee party Monthermé. Exhibition, old games, local artisans or tastings are scheduled. It is also possible to attend a workshop at which coffee is roasted in the style of yesteryear.
