Charming town of the Somme, in Hauts-de-France, Montdidier takes place about forty kilometers from Amiens and its famous cathedral. Located in the heart of the Santerre region, forty kilometers from Compiègne, it is not far from Fignières, Faverolles or Courtemanche.
Occupied since the Gallic period, the territory of Montdidier developed from the Middle Ages. The town has a glorious history, seeing the kings of France and other greats of the kingdom succeed each other on its land. Affected by the Thirty Years' War in the 17th century or by the Franco-German war of 1870 and that of 1914-1918, it is now experiencing a more peaceful period conducive to tourism.
Known for being the home of the first public wind farm, it still has an interesting architectural heritage despite its near destruction during the First World War.
