Castle of Lavagnac

Monument in Montagnac

Located in the commune of Montagnac, in the Hérault, the castle of Lavagnac is a building of the sixteenth and seventeenth century listed historical monument. Owned by the princes of Conti before the French Revolution, it later became the property of Jean-Maurice de Faventines de Fontenilles, a farmer general.

Nicknamed the Versailles of Languedoc because of its facade and its terrace, the site also presents since the 1960s a boxwood embroidery carried out by Madame de Suarez d'Aulan. For many years, it is the subject of a real estate project of house and golf 18 holes which has still not been realized.
