Located in the heart of the town of Moncontour, in the Côtes-d'Armor, the Saint-Mathurin church was built during the 15th century before being entirely rebuilt in the 18th century. Originally a rectangular late Gothic building, it saw its facade transformed between 1765 and 1786, revealing today a charming style of Italian Renaissance inspiration.
Listed as a Historic Monument, the Saint-Mathurin church still presents 16th century elements to its visitors, like its front door. But it is for its stained glass windows that the building is appreciated today by visitors who can indeed admire several windows classified as objects and representing Saint Yves, Saint Barbe, Saint John the Baptist, the Tree of Jesse or Saint Mathurin. These six 16th century glass roofs today constitute one of the finest sets of glass painting in Brittany.
