Located in the Dordogne, on the town of the same name, the castle of Monbazillac is a site now classified as an historic monument. Surrounded by a world-famous vineyard, not far from the city of Bergerac, the building was built in the middle of the 16th century by Charles d'Aydie.
Built on a rectangular plane, and surrounded by four circular towers, it passes from hand to hand over the centuries, reaching the French Revolution without major damage. It was at the beginning of the 1960s that the Château de Monbazillac was bought by the cooperative wine cellar of the town which decided to market a vintage thanks to the twenty-five hectares of vines.
The site now houses a museum dedicated to contemporary art, and offers many activities, as well as an artists' residence.
