Monbazillac is a commune in the Dordogne. Located in the Purple Perigord, ten kilometers from Bergerac, the village is set in the hills overlooking the valley of the Dordogne.

The village owes its fame Monbazillac white wine which he gave his name and which today enjoys an AOC. It also has a modest architectural heritage which is not without interest.

Things to see and do

Famous for its wine and vineyards, the village also has a small Monbazillac interesting architectural heritage.

Classified as an historic monument, Castle Monbazillac was built in the late fifteenth century. Surrounded by a renowned vineyard, the site now hosts a museum of wine opened in the 1960s.

In the village, one can also enjoy the style of Fonvieille mansion, a sixteenth-century listed historical monument today.

It is possible to make some beautiful walks amidst the hills surrounding the village of Monbazillac.

In July and August, Monbazillac offers charming evening market on Sunday evening.

Every year in May, the festival offers Monbazillac The Angels players. To promote children's books, the event is an opportunity to meet many authors and enjoy entertainment.
