Things to see and do

The Romans founded the baths, the Middle Ages built its castles, geology and volcanism have carved great landscapes.

Meyras, medieval village, also allows you to appreciate its historical and architectural heritage: Romanesque church Saint Etienne (bell tower of the twelfth century), castles of Ventadour (possibility of visiting in July and August) and Hautségure (private), rue Grande (Renaissance period with beautiful stone buildings...).

At the end of the Grand Rue, facing the parking of the Alambic (North of the village), former mule carrier and its dovecote.

Heart to the place: parking Champs de Mars, take the Grand Rue and 30 m from the multi-service right side. During the wars of religion (sixteenth century), it was simple to know which religion belonged to his neighbor! Heart in place: Catholic, Heart upside down: Protestant!

The "Mofette", resurgence of carbon dioxide, is located on the spa site of Neyrac-les-Bains, specializing in the treatment of skin diseases and rheumatism.

In the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Monts d'Ardèche, this territory offers a remarkable biodiversity of more than 1400 listed plant species.

The castle of Ventadour (12th century) stands at an altitude of 373 m, at the intersection of two valleys, Fontaulière and Ardèche, sentinel guarding the entrance to the commune of Meyras.

Castle Ventadour: until the revolution, the castle was called Meyras castle of the name of the village located two kilometers. The name of Ventadour is much more recent. It appears in the texts after the revolution and has for origin the name of the family, undoubtedly the most powerful to which the castle belonged: The Ventadour, dukes and Pairs of France, probably the last owners of the castle to have resided there. Guided tours in July-August-September and October every day from 9h to 12h and 14h to 19h except Saturday morning and Sunday morning.

The association "In search of discovery" invites you to discover the village of character of Meyras. A country animator "Dédé l'Ardéchois" will guide you on the course of "frescoes" and will open, for you, the drawers of his cabinet with stories. It will take you on a stroll out of the ordinary in the most authentic neighborhoods of the medieval village. From the Saint Etienne church to the washhouse, another way to immerse yourself in the sweet mysterious atmosphere of Meyras, at sunset... Every Monday in July and August, meet at 8:30 pm in front of the church door.

Do not miss to visit the "Small museum in Dédé" which tells the story of the railway in southern Ardèche. Free entry.
