Between Atlantic estuary and ocean, Meschers sur Gironde coastal resort is located 12 km from Royan.

Originally a fishing village, is now a Meschers-sur-Gironde very pleasant seaside resort of Charente-Maritime. Opening on the coast of Beauty on the one hand and surrounded by pine forest, Suzac of the forest, the town has retained its cachet.

The idyllic setting of the resort, between sea and pine forest, offers the advantage to its visitors to enjoy both its vast sandy beaches as exploring the caves of Meschers, best local sights.

The small fishing port turned between the nineteenth and twentieth century in a marina where all modern facilities are available to boaters.

Five sandy beaches, sandwiched between the white cliffs of the estuary await you: the most inaccessible and hidden (Cadet Conche) to the wildest (Suzac Beach), you can relax with family or two... But the peculiarity of Meschers is located in the cliffs along the estuary of cave habitats, cavities carved by the sea and by men. If many homes are private, you will discover some, visiting the caves of Regulus and Matata.

In the estuary, the typical specialty of the country remains lean fishing, a huge fish with the characteristic growl. It is therefore fish while his ear in the boat!

Caves of Regulus and Matata: These cliff-cavities are the result of the dissolution of limestone and carved and cut by man. Their occupation dates back to the Gallo-Roman period and since then they have always been inhabited. Plunderers of wrecks, shipwrecked, robbers, Protestants have often found refuge. A Regulus, you can follow the footsteps of its most famous cave: the Guicharde, famous seller of postcards in terrible Cadet, wreckers merciless... A Matata, you will find the museum, a hotel overlooking estuary. Both sites offer dramatized nocturnal visits in July and August.

Five splendid sandy beaches welcome tourists for moments of relaxation in the sun and water activities. Each beach offers a different view of the estuary and has its peculiarities. Thus, Nuns of the beach offers a kids club, a sailing club and all kinds of maritime leisure.
