The Garden of Novelists (also called Fontana Rosa) is located Menton, in the district of Garavan.
It was built in the Villa Emilia Park (dating from the nineteenth century) acquired in 1922 by the writer and Spanish writer Vicente Blasco Ibanez, (1867-1928), who could also purchase additional plots.
Appealing to the sculptor Leopold Bernstamm, the ceramist Donadini and local business Saïssi, Vicente Blasco Ibanez-made realize until his death in 1928 what he called a "Garden of Novelists" honoring his favorite authors.
Thus, from the entrance gate, a pediment on which are visible in the portraits of Balzac ceramics, Dickens and Cervantes sets the tone.
Inside, in a stunning setting with trees, dotted with ponds, are also installed busts of Dickens, Flaubert, Hugo, Dostoyevsky, especially while built features include illustrations evoking the epic of Don Quixote.
Vast 1700 m², the garden is protected as historical monuments. However, part of the site was destroyed. Property City Menton, it is the subject of a pardon.
