Things to see and do

Listed as a Historic Monument, the Saint-Symphorien church in Meaulne was built in the 17th century. It is known for its 16th century sculpted group listed as a Historic Monument representing the Virgin of Mercy.

While passing through Vitray, don't miss the Saint-Eloi church, also listed as a Historic Monument. Built in the 12th century and transformed in the 17th century, it has the particularity of revealing a bell tower entirely covered in shingles.

Composed of a central main building with common in return, the Château du Plaix today benefits from an inscription in the Historic Monuments. Inhabited private property, it is visible from the outside, just like the castle of Alliers. The latter, made up of a central main building from the 17th century and two later pavilion wings, was notably the property of General Georges Chevalier, father of Jacques Chevalier, minister of the Vichy regime.

To make the most of sunny days, head to the Tronçais forest. Mainly made up of oaks, it also has 130 hectares of ponds, remarkable classified trees and several marked hiking trails.

Events and festivities

At the end of August, place at the patronal feast of Meaulne and its many activities for the whole family.

The Brame festival is organized in September in Vitray.
