Artificial water retention on the Drac, the lake of Monteynard-Avignonet takes place in the municipality Mayres-Savel, in Isère. Supplying a hydroelectric power station, the site was founded at the end of the 19th century and takes place at an altitude of 500 meters. Over 650 hectares in size, it was notably used as a filming location for Bertrand Blier's film, Cold Buffet.
For several years, Lake Monteynard-Avignonet and its Himalayan footbridges have become a hotspot for windsurfing, kitesurfing, hiking and fishing. A hiking trail with a forest route of more than twelve kilometers allows you to cross the Drac and the Ebron and enjoy a thrilling journey.
