Museum Henri Boëz

Leisure centre in Maubeuge

Created in the second half of the 19th century following an exhibition of objects discovered during archaeological excavations, the Henri Boëz museum in Maubeuge is currently closed. Quickly endowed with a rich collection, the site was almost completely destroyed during a fire in 1914.

Reconstituted, the collections of the Henri Boëz museum now revolve around fine arts, archeology or ethnography. The museum notably reveals very beautiful works dedicated to Flemish Renaissance painting, the art of the 19th century Salons and even regional artists of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Closed in 1993, the Henri Boëz museum received the Musée de France label in the early 2000s, the collections continuing to be revealed during exceptional exhibitions. It should soon reopen its doors in the former premises of the CPAM and the CAF, a very beautiful Reconstruction building.
