The castle built in 1485 for Jacques Le Pelletier, owner and Rouen merchant and lord of Martainville is transformed from 1510 by his nephew pleasure residence. A fine example of the architecture of the early Renaissance in Normandy, it is still surrounded by its annexes : dovecote charreterie, stables, bread oven, closed well.
The castle now houses the Museum of Arts and Traditions Normans with rich collections, 28 rooms depicting everyday life in Normandy from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century : high - Norman furniture from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century, textile and Norman costumes, musical instruments made in Normandy. An agricultural collection is presented in public the castle.
Every year, an exhibition traces an aspect of the daily life of Norman through the centuries.
