Created in 1819, the natural history museum of Marseille invites its visitors to discover the fauna and flora of Europe and the Mediterranean. Through a museography entirely revised in 2020, the site today reveals a contemporary vision of the natural and scientific heritage.
Installed in the right wing of the Palais Longchamp, the Marseille natural history museum has themed rooms like the Safari Museum room with its 300 stuffed animal specimens, the Terre des Hommes room on the history of man up to the age of metals or even the Provence room with its specimens of fossils and naturalized from Provence and its old didactic paintings.
Temporary thematic exhibitions, workshops for children or other cultural and fun events are offered there regularly throughout the year.
