Also known as Château Gaillard (not to be confused with the Norman fortress), Château de Charentonneau was originally a stately home in the commune of Maisons-Alfort. It was then considered one of the most picturesque areas on the banks of the Marne.
Built between the 17th and 18th centuries, the Château de Charentonneau was completely dismantled in the 1950s to allow the construction of a housing estate. Of the original site, only a few vestiges remain, two walls with semi-circular arches of the orangery, which are the subject of an inscription in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments.
