Located on the Romain-Rolland quay, on the right bank of the Saône, the historic courthouse of Lyon takes place in the heart of Old Lyon since the first half of the 19th century. Classified as an historic monument for its interior decorations, this neoclassical building is also known as the palace of twenty-four columns, in reference to its impressive facade with Corinthian columns.
The work of Louis-Pierre Baltard, who was inspired by Greek temples, the building underwent a major restoration campaign in the early 2010s which gave it all its splendor. The historic courthouse of Lyon, which now only houses the Court of Appeal and the Court of Assizes, remains accessible via guided tours which allow you to admire the Salle des pas perdus, a huge hall of 625 m² under a 17 m vault, or the courtrooms.
