Gallo-Roman archaeological site located in the town of Lussas, in the department of Ardèche, the oppidum of Jastres is now classified as a Historic Monument. Overlooking Aubenas and its surroundings, the place offers a breathtaking view of the Louyre canyon or the Mirabel tower in addition to its rich historical interest.
This fortified site testifies to Roman control in the region from the end of the 2nd century BC, revealing construction techniques using lime mortar. Of military and political function, the oppidum of Jastres is one of the oldest monuments of this type in France.
