Limitrophe of the city of Lille, Loos, or Loos-lès-Lille, is a commune of the Hauts-de-France. Located in the department of Nord, it takes place on the border of the Weppes, in Roman Flanders, on the banks of the Deûle.
Known in the mid-12th century with the construction of its abbey, Loos became a full-fledged community in 1214. It developed its chemical and textile industry at the beginning of the 19th century like the rest of the region and grew gradually. For a long time prosperous, the city suffered little by little from the economic crisis that reached all the north of France. Loos nevertheless benefits today from its proximity to Lille, as well as its important architectural heritage that bears witness to a rich and glorious past.
